On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 58th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON), aka IBOM 2024, I welcome you to the official website of the conference. I am honoured and pleased to have you registered to join us in Uyo, the Land of Fulfillment, for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring scientific gathering.
The theme of this year`s scientific conference is Sustaining Quality Maternal and Child Health in a Challenging Economy, which has been carefully chosen as, despite the obvious drift in all economic indices in Nigeria currently, there is still a need to sustain quality maternal and child health to improve on our abysmal maternal and child health statistics. The possibility of achieving these is the subject of discussion by our team of well-selected international and other renowned erudite scholars. The subthemes, which include Strategies for the prevention of Gynaecological cancers, Mitigating Gender-based violence in Nigeria, and improving the uptake of family planning services in Nigeria, were selected to deal with contemporary issues in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the 21st century.
The pre-conference workshops on the National Labour Care Guide, Colposcopy in Gynaecological Cancers and statistics are everyday demands of surviving and staying relevant in the ever-dynamic field of women's medicine.
